Hospital waiting times

We are being inundated by frustrated patients because of long hospital waiting list times.
 
Your GP does not control the hospital waiting lists!
 
Patients are being wrongly told to get a note from their GP to “expedite” their appointments.
 
We are happy to write and update the hospital IF YOU HAVE A CHANGE OF SYMPTOMS for THEM TO CONSIDER PRIORITISNG YOU.
 
We are seeing a large portion of patients asking for letters with no new symptoms and simply because they do not want to wait. From the hospital point of view, they would only consider prioritising you above someone else on clinical need only.
Everyone on the waiting list would be in a similar situation and equally frustrated at waiting!
 
Please do NOT contact the practice asking to be prioritised unless there has been a change of symptoms since your original referral was made.
 
If you wish to feedback to the hospitals about their waiting lists, please liaise with them directly through their formal channels.
